Missing Colorado man found safe

A Colorado man who disappeared Tuesday after parking his truck in a Warr Acres grocery store parking lot was found safe Wednesday morning.

Gary Wayne Near, 55, called police from a truck stop near Interstate 40 and Morgan Rd., said Warr Acres Police Sgt. Alan Davidofsky.

"Gary actually heard one of the news reports this morning indicating that he was a missing person," Davidofsky said Wednesday.

An Oklahoma City police officer picked up Near and took him to the Warr Acres Police Department "to see if he (Near) needed any help (and) try to help him make arrangements to get home," Davidofsky said. "He's here with us now, and he's fine."

Near had parked his truck at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at NW 63 and MacArthur on Tuesday, and left, leaving his keys, cell phone and paperwork locked inside the truck's cab.

"There were just some issues that were going at that time in terms of the employment," said Davidofsky, "and he just walked off."
