The Justice Department announced Tuesday it has reached an agreement to allow the merger of US Airways and American Airlines. Governor Mary Fallin calls it great news for the thousands of employees at these two companies, many of whom work in Oklahoma. "I'm particularly thrilled for the 6,000 AA employees in Tulsa who stand to benefit from this agreement. We know that the state of Oklahoma will continue to be a great place for these employees to call home and an ever-growing hub for the aerospace and aviation industries." State Attorney General Scott Pruitt also commended the agreement. "This merger is an important step for Oklahoma's economic security and for the prosperity of thousands of Tulsa families," Pruitt said. "As we've noted all along, the merger between American Airlines and US Airways would not violate antitrust laws and would actually allow the merged airline to compete in the marketplace, creating more opportunities for consumers. This is great news for Oklahoma."
